Do you have a showroom?
Our rugs are available through several retailers, art galleries and special events. Click here to see links to some.

Where are your rugs made?
Our rugs are designed at our office in Honolulu, Hawaii and they are woven by our weavers in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Where is Nepal?
Nepal is a small country that lies between Tibet and India. Mt. Everest is located there. Nepal has its own unique language and culture.

What materials are used in your rugs?
The rugs are made with the finest Merino wool from New Zealand over a cotton foundation. We also use silk in some designs. Click here for more information.

How long does it take to make one of these rugs?
A 6’ x 9’ rug would take one weaver three months to weave, but normally there are several weavers working on any large rug, reducing the total weaving time.

Are your rugs machine-made?
No, all our rugs are hand-knotted, (handmade), on looms by master weavers using Tibetan-style weaving techniques. Click here for more information.

How can you tell a machine-made rug from a hand-knotted rug?
You can tell the difference by looking at the back of the rug. If the back is covered with cloth or a rubber non-skid surface, it is a machine-made rug. Also, if the back surface is very rough, it is probably a machine-made rug since glue has to be placed on the back to hold the pile in place. The problem with machine made rugs is that after several years the glues or backings begin to break down and the pile starts to fall out. Turn over a hand-knotted rug and you can see the design as clearly on the back as on the front. You can actually see the rows of knots. Also, if you separate the rows on the front of the rug, you will be able to see the knots at the base of the pile along the weft. What determines a rug's price?
The price reflects the quality of our rugs. All our rugs are made of high-quality materials, and then hand-knotted with one of several knot densities, (i.e. 80 knots per square inch). The rugs are priced according to the knot density and square footage. Those familiar with hand-knotted rugs find our prices very reasonable. Click here for more information.

Why do rugs of the same size have different prices?
The rugs are woven with different knot densities determined by their design. Most are woven with 60, 80 or 100 knots per square inch. Higher knot density obviously means more labor was invested, therefore, a higher price. For more information on knot density, download the PDF.

Is child labor used in the manufacture of your rugs?
Absolutely not! This issue is of great concern to us. We have gone to great lengths to ensure that no child labor is used in the manufacturing of our rugs. We visit our weavers often and have production managers on-site. The national law in Nepal states that rug weavers must be at least 14 years old. No one under 16 is involved in the weaving of any of our rugs.

How do I know what size rug to buy?
This is largely an issue of personal preference, however, the rug should be large enough to ground the furniture grouping in the room. For more guidance on placement and sizes of rugs, download the PDF.

How do you clean and maintain these rugs?
The best maintenance is to keep the rug vacuumed. Wipe up any spills immediately. Spot clean with water and a little baby shampoo, if needed. Do not pour baby shampoo or liquid soap directly onto the rug, rather use a clean white towel to blot the mark. Never use standard rug shampoos on wool rugs because it strips the natural oils from the wool and will make your rug less resistant to soiling and marking. Can I place a special order?
Yes, we take special orders. A special order is either placing an order for a rug that is out of stock or making a color or simple design change to one of our rugs. A special order is paid for in full before we ask our weavers to start a new rug. Once the order is placed it takes approximately 6 months for delivery.

Can I have a rug custom designed?
Yes, we do custom designs. Custom designs are achieved by working closely with the client to determine the perfect design, color set and size. The cost of a rug is determined by the square footage, knot density, and the designing fee. The designing fee is determined by the amount of time required to achieve the final design approved by the client. Once the order is placed, it takes approximately 6 months for delivery.
